Safeguarding policy statement
We want our children, young people and any vulnerable adult that has contact with Wolves to be happy and safe!
At Wolves we strive to ensure that children, young people and vulnerable adults are treated with respect, we are committed to hearing their voices and we want to create a positive environment that is supportive, warm and welcoming.
What is Safeguarding?
Safeguarding is the action that is taken to promote the welfare of vulnerable groups and protect them from harm.
A child is defined as anyone under the age of 18.
A vulnerable adult is someone who has needs for care and support and as a result of those care and support needs is unable to protect themselves from either the risk of, or the experience of abuse or neglect.
We believe that:
Children, young people and vulnerable adults should never experience abuse of any kind.
We have a responsibility to promote the welfare of all children, young people and vulnerable adults to keep them safe and to practise in a way that protects them.
We take our responsibilities seriously and are committed to listening to children, young people and vulnerable adults. We pride ourselves on taking action when needed and creating an open culture to encourage discussion and learning.
Policies
At Wolves we have a wide and varied range of activities - such as The Academy, Our Foundation and Match/ and Event days. We have comprehensive safeguarding policies for children and vulnerable adults. Our policies and procedures act as:
- A reminder to all our stakeholders of the value we place on the welfare and safety of children and adults.
- A guide to supporting stakeholders with procedures for reporting concerns, types/indicators of concerns and managing allegations/whistle-blowing etc.
Who is responsible for Safeguarding at Wolves?
It is EVERYONES responsibility and all club personnel have a duty to safeguard the welfare of Children and Adults at Risk. Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club has a number of people trained and ready to deal with matters of abuse, harassment or bullying involving vulnerable people.
If you have a concern about the safety or welfare of a Child or Adult at Risk, you can speak to the following people:
• A member of staff
• The person in charge of the activity
• The Head of Safeguarding shown below
